A little bit about me…

I am fascinated with the human body and its potential.

I’ve enjoyed most forms of physical training over the years, qualifying as a Gym Instructor in 2009.  I think I’ve tried it all, running, swimming and biking, lifting barbells, slogging miles on my treadmill, hiking up and down mountains in sun, mist and rain (not so keen on that last one). So how did I end up as Karen Dobson, Pilates AND now Yoga teacher?

I found Pilates in 2010 when I first went to a class and it was an immediate ‘lightbulb’ moment.  I instantly fell in love with the method and determined to train as a teacher, I trained with Pilates Training Solutions and I loved every minute of it.  I gained my CYQ Level 3 Mat Pilates Diploma in 2012.  The PTS Certificate in Teaching Studio Equipment soon followed and I’ve been teaching Pilates in Solihull and Kenilworth ever since, starting Swan Pilates, my little business in 2013.

I am also qualified to teach classes using Pilates small equipment, (pilates small balls, bands, foam rollers, weights and rings).

Fast forwards to 2022 when, after a five year love affair with Yoga, I qualified to teach this beautiful method, training with Fay Lochore at Nalini Yoga in Coventry.  I love yoga, it’s sublime, combining body, mind and spirit with Yoga philosophy and exercise.  Class information here

Not only is health a normal condition, but it is our duty not only to attain it but to maintain it.

With body, mind, and spirit functioning perfectly as a coordinated whole, what else could reasonably be expected other than an active, alert, disciplined person
